Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad

I went to Durango specifically to ride this train. I did not know until I got there that I was there on their railfan weekend. Unfortunately I did not have time to do any true railfanning and follow the trains to get outside running pictures. Most of the pictures were taken while riding the train, from the back balcony of the club car.

Tennessee Central Railroad Museum

This was one of the Fall Color Spectacular runs in 2004. After this running season the NY Central engines went back north to a museum where they were going to be put into static storage for the most part and only run on special events. Insurance and maintenance on the aging units was escalating to the point they were just too costly to run on a regular basis. They were some very sweet sounding units and still looked great from the outside. These pictures were made with a fairly inexpensive film camera.
